1/4W 5% Resistor
- Power Rating (1/4 W): Can safely dissipate up to 0.25 watts of electrical power. Exceeding this limit can cause the resistor to overheat and fail.
- Tolerance (5%): The actual resistance value can vary by up to ± 5% from its stated value.
- Design: Axial through-hole style with metal leads on both ends, making it very easy to insert into solderless breadboards or solder directly to circuit boards.
- Reading the Value: These resistors typically feature 4 color bands. The first two bands represent the significant digits, the third band is the multiplier, and the fourth band (usually Gold) indicates the 5% tolerance
Common Uses
They are heavily used in prototyping, hobbyist electronics (like Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects), and basic consumer electronics to- Limit current to LEDs
- Act as pull-up or pull-down resistors
- Adjust signal levels
